S.A. National Society October Newsletter – Ken Gillings Memorial Lecture – Part 1

The annual Ken Gillings Memorial Lecture was held at the Kwa Muhle Museum on Tuesday 9 October 2018. The evening was sponsored by the Durban Local History Museum and our thanks to Sinothi Thabethe and his staff for arranging the tent, technical equipment, and for the catering for the 100 attendees.

The first presentation by member Hugh Bland was and audio visual presentation of WWI, with images of the exhortations to join up, the grim reality of the war, and ending with the legacy of the war. The attached gallery is an extract of some of the images used in the presentation. The presentation was to commemorate the centenary of the end of the Great War on 11 November 1918.
