Dear SANS Members and Friends
You are invited to attend our next meeting which will take place at
St Margaret’s Anglican Church, 11 Delaware Avenue, Durban North
On Saturday 11th October, 09:30 for 10:00
The speaker is Dr Raymond Perrier and the title of his talk is:
Paddy Kearney – A Prophet for our Times: What can we learn from his life and mission?
Dr Raymond Perrier is the Director of the Denis Hurley Centre. He completed a PhD with UKZN writing about Paddy Kearney, the founder of the DHC and a renowned Durban-based Struggle activist. An edited version of this has recently been published in book form as ‘Paddy Kearney: a Prophet for our Times’. Since 2015, Raymond has been running the Denis Hurley Centre – a brand new community centre in the heart of Durban working with different faith groups to help the poor and marginalised of the city. This landmark building has very quickly established its reputation within the city as a place of care, education and community, responding to issues of refugees, drug addiction and homelessness. In this work he has been inspired by the example of Paddy Kearney who was Chair of Trustees until he passed away in Nov 2018.
