HIGHWAY HERITAGE SOCIETY  –  SA NATIONAL SOCIETY – PIETERMARITZBURG HERITAGE SOCIETY – JOINT TOUR

Highway Heritage Society has arranged a joint outing to Mariannhill Monastery details of which follow. This should prove an excellent opportunity to socialise with fellow lovers of history as we learn more about this much loved and respected monastery which has played such a long and important role in the development of this Province.

Date & time: Saturday 18 June 2016 at 14h00 (2.00 p.m.)

Please ensure that you arrive at least 15 minutes before this time for the collection of meeting fees.

Directions to Mariannhill Monastery:

From Durban: stay on N3 past Pavilion & Paradise Valley/Pinetown and take exit no. 23 to M1/Richmond Road/Mariannhill. At top of exit ramp turn left into M1 for Mariannhill.

From PMB: On N3 pass Mariannhill Toll Plaza and take exit no. 23 to M1/Richmond Road/Mariannhill. At top of exit ramp turn right into M1 for Mariannhill.

From Pinetown: Take M1 (Richmond Road) under Fields Hill/M13. Follow M1 over N3.

ALL: Pass NPA testing ground on right and at first robot turn right into Abbot Francis Road. Follow road for about 0.8 km and at intersection keep right to Monastery entrance. Go through arch and keep straight for about 200 metres. Park on left or right near double glass doors ahead of you.

Meeting Fees: Members and Visitors R25; (Please bring the correct change). Tea or coffee and a scone with strawberry jam and fresh cream will be available at the tea garden at a (negotiated) price of R30.
